For large-capacity shelters

CBRN filtering systems are vital in protecting against various harmful air-borne contaminants, such as gases, vapours and aerosols, which are released during a critical event. Such an event can occur for many reasons, starting from a natural disaster or accident, but also as a result of a man-made attack, such as terror, war or sabotage in a dangerous facility (such as a nuclear power plant).

Firbach X

Our filter-ventilation systems can stop contaminants from a wide range of sources, whether they are biological weapons, such as viruses that are distributed in the form of particles or droplets, chemical weapons, typically in the form of gases or nuclear fallout in the form of particles and radioactive gases and eliminate toxic industrial chemicals in the form of gases.

When designing a stationary large-capacity filter-ventilation system, many elements need to be considered, such as threat analysis (which contaminants and quantities), sufficient air flow (both to maintain an overpressure in the protected area that prevents contaminants from penetrating into area and to allow sufficient fresh air for residents) in both filtration and ventilation modes, power supply and backup, the number of those protected and their planned duration of stay, the size of the enclosure and many others.

The filtration system includes in particular the following components: a coarse pre-filter (for dust and small particle removal), fine filters (for finer particle pollutants), CBRN filters, an electric motor, gas-tight pipes, gas-tight shut-off valves, gauges and measuring equipment. All these components are designed to work together to provide a safe and reliable environment in emergency situations.

Applicable for:

  • Civil defense and military shelters
  • Large-capacity residential and commercial complexes
  • Critical infrastructure and strategic assets
  • Oil & gas, chemical and other types of hazardous industries
  • Nuclear power plants

Main characteristics of the Firbach X system

  • The stationary system allows constant readiness against CBRN-threats
  • The unit contains a ventilator with an electric motor and a crank for manual drive, in case of power failure
  • The unit can be adapted for air purification defined by a specific situation, with the maximum filtered air volume of one filter set shown on the image being 1800 m³/h
  • Our company also has CBRN filters that can filter up to 9000 m³/h of air in one set, it is possible to deliver multiple sets
  • The system can be fully automated and customized according to the specific environment upon request

Filter-ventilation components

Pressure cap with metal membrane

  • serves for capturing the pressure wave in pipe line
  • metal membrane serves for gas-tight system closure
  • can also be used to remove air e.g. from battery area
  • air-flow rate 400 m³/h or 1300 m³/h

Filter inserts FVS

  • serve for basic filtration of atmospheric air
  • filtration class G3
  • flow rate 1500 – 9000 m³/h

Gas-tight valves

  • are used for gas-tight pipe closure or for air quantity regulation during filter-ventilation
  •  the valve is controlled manually
  •  for pipes D 150 – 1000 mm

Coarse dust filter

  • for rough filtration of atmospheric air
  • contains a special filter membrane that is washable by a stream of water
  • flow rate of air up to 600 m³/h (by combining of filters, air-flow rate increases)

Fine dust filter PF 500

  • serves to capture fine dust and mechanical impurities
  • filtration class E10
  • air flow max. 500 m³/h
  • separation rate 85 %

COLPRO 150/200

Radial ventilator with electric motor

  • via crank handle it can be manually operated in case of power failure
  • manual drive – 300 m3/h
    engine drive – 600 m3/h
  • 2 000 Pa

Oxygen equipment

  • intended for oxygen replenishment during isolation, resp. regeneration in the shelter
  • amount of oxygen is projected according to the number of sheltered persons

Gas-tight pipes

  • Gas-tight pipes of various shapes and diameters (elbows, pipe crossings, pipe junctions…)

Piping with bayonet attachment – for connecting filters

Gas-tight connections

  • intended for gas-tight connection of pipes, filters, etc.
  • for pipe diameters D 100 – D 355 mm

Air flow meter

  • used to measure the amount of filtered air
  • for air capacities of 100 m³/h to 1000 m³/h

We also supply:

  •  interwall gas-tight closures D 125 – D 300 mm
  • pressure wall closures for max. air flow 6000 m³/h
  •  circular silencers for pipes D 125 – D 355 mm
  •  outlets for pipes
  • electrical and hot water heat exchangers for pipes
  • thermometers for pipes
  • CO₂ meters
  •  mounting, anchoring construction
